• 1952, Max and Emogene Arnold bought the Standard Oil Service Station in Auburn, Kentucky
  • 1961, they sold the station and moved to Russellville, Kentucky
  • 1966, Max became the Standard Oil Agent for Logan, Todd, and Christian counties. In the 1960’s Chevron oil merged with Standard Oil of Kentucky and Max became an agent for Chevron
  • 1979, Max became the Chevron Oil Company Distributor for Hopkins, Webster, Union, and Muhlenburg counties. Bob Arnold, one of Max and Emogene’s sons, began working for the Company
  • 1985, Max Arnold & Sons Inc acquired the Princeton, Kentucky Chevron bulk plant
  • 1987, the Hopkinsville Oil Company was purchased
  • 1989, MAXFUEL convenience stores were born. MAXFUEL meant, “Maximize your fuel dollars”. Over the next few years, MAXFUEL stores were expanded to Hopkinsville, Russellville, Elkton, Cadiz, Madisonville, Princeton, and Ft. Campbell
  • 1995, Max Arnold & Sons Inc. bought Ashland Oil’s assets at their Russellville, Madisonville, and Greenville commissioned agent locations
  • 1997, the Company purchased some Minit Mart convenience stores and converted them to MAXFUEL convenience stores
  • 1999, Max Arnold & Sons main office formerly located on Clay Street moved into their new offices located at 702 North Main Street in Hopkinsville, Kentucky
  • 2001, the Company acquired several convenience stores from Duke & Long fuel and oil supplier. This acquisition along with acquiring new accounts in the area expanded Max Arnold & Sons, LLC territory to include areas of Paducah, Mayfield, and Benton, Kentucky
  • 2002, Max died having been diagnosed nine months earlier with bone cancer. Max was a great man with vision of providing a great product, with a fair price, while giving excellent service. That philosophy is the cornerstone of this Company and what makes it continue to grow today
    Bob Arnold took over as President and CEO of the Company
  • 2007, the Company purchased Belcher Oil, growing the number of retail operations in far Western Kentucky
  • 2013, the Company expanded retail operations into the Nashville, TN area
  • 2014, Max’s Café, the Company’s first Quick Serve Restaurant, opened in Hopkinsville
  • 2015, some MAXFUEL XPRESS stores were rebranded to Max’s Convenience Shops
  • 2016, Emogene Arnold passed away surrounded by her family and closest friends
  • 2016, Max Arnold II, grandson of our founder, joined the Company
  • Currently, Max Arnold and Sons, LLC operates 5 Bulk Plants, 22 Convenience Stores, 1 QSR, supports numerous Dealer locations, and supplies several dozen wholesale customers with fuel and lubricant products
